Gnome UI Standard

A lot of people have a lot of different opinions about how something
should be done. (ie - icons vs. menus; location of help menu; options
vs. preferences; etc.) I had a thought about overall system design.
It seems that when some people write programs they want to do it their
way and not conform. Well I think most people would agree that is bad
for the Gnome project.

I propose that only applications which meet the Gnome UI Standard,
which has yet to be defined, should be included in Gnome. Any
application using GTK but not meeting the Gnome UI Standard will not
have the privilege of being included in the default Gnome
installation. Maybe there should be a Gnome UI test which each GTK
application would have to meet before being included with Gnome.
