Re: [gnome-flashback] Ubuntu install dependency issues

I suspect that an update was interrupted at some point. I posted a new query here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2303257&p=13393193#post13393193

The output of that command would provide the package version info of all the trusty flashback packages, and I included a sample output from my own machine to show what the current stable package versions should be.

This indicates that your apt cache is not up to date. Please make sure
you have the -updates component enabled in your /etc/apt/sources.list
(you can also check it via software-properties-gtk GUI tool).

At some point it may be beneficial for us to see the output of these two commands to determine the state of the effected machines software sources:

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d

I really wish I could have convinced Jim to run (and post the output of):

sudo dpkg --configure -a

In my experience if an update has been interrupted you'll see an output saying something like "dpkg: error: parsing file .............", then it's a matter of correcting the problem in /var/lib/dpkg/updates.

At some point we have to find the root of the held broken package error.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome-session-flashback : Depends: metacity (>= 2.30) but it is not going
to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
And what happens when you try to apt-get install metacity?
