No light green background for me when running mutter --replace.

"2) Background might not disappear after VT switching (did not test)."
The background didn't disappear for me.

"3) There will be fade effect when changing background."
There is a fade effect.

Thanks for quick response. :)

A few issues:

1) The screen flashes white briefly when logging in to flashback.
2) When using the Compiz session, the screen will flash black every time a window is opened or closed.
3) When using the Compiz session, desktop icons cannot be shown. For instance, if you run 'gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true' then no icons will show up.

Thanks for reporting! Will try to find solution to all three issues.

Icons are showing up, but they are under background window. Now we have two desktop windows - nautilus and gnome-flashback. I need find a way to make sure our desktop window will be always below all other windows.

Speaking about Compiz. Upstream have merged my work. Now gtk-window-decorator is ported to GTK+ 3 and will work with Metacity 3.12.0.

8. The background disappears on VT switch. Switching with Ctrl+Alt+F12
then back causes black background. When I move the windows, the
background becomes visible again behind them.

9. The background is missing with mutter. Just run 'mutter --replace',
and you will see an ugly lightgreen background instead of the selected
background image.

I have updated background drawing. Can you test it?
1) There should not be lightgreen background with mutter.
2) Background might not disappear after VT switching (did not test).
3) There will be fade effect when changing background.
