I would recommend sending an email to the F-Spot mailing list at http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/f-spot-list or file a feature enhancement request in F-Spot in GNOME Bugzilla:  http://bugzilla.gnome.org/

Suggestion is to add a transition preference option as most/all other screen savers have.
