I have downloaded the latest version Gnumeric1.7.12 for Windows XP. When the program started all the text is displayed in squares, the symbols display as they should. I have downloaded the dependencies Goffice and libgsf , without any change in the program. On the dependencies download page there is no information to indicate which tar file is needed for the required platform. tar.BZ2 or tar.GZ or both of them. There is no information about installing the dependencies ,ie what part of the directory should they be in. There is a file called install in the tar files which gives an error message --this file dose not have a file associated with it.-- and will not run.
