Here are the plain GNOME default settings that I found on two GNOME 2.4
systems:
Window manager: Metacity
Theme: Simple
Fonts:
Application font: Sans 10
Desktop font: sans 12
Window title font: Sans 10 (unavailable)
Terminal font: Monospace 10
Font Rendering: Best shapes
Menus and Toolbars:
Button labels: Text below icons
Detachable toolbars: selected
Show icons in menus: selected
Background:
Background style: Vertical gradient
Top color: 57 55 75 (RGB)
Bottom color: 66 82 143 (RGB)
Contents of the desktop environment:
Panels: Menu Panel and along the top and Bottom Edge Panel
Desktop: 3 icons (Home, Start Here, and Trash)
Contents of the panels (left-to-right):
Menu Panel: GNOME icon, Applications, Actions, Home Folder icon,
Terminal
icon, Clock applet, Volume Control applet, and the window list icon.
Bottom edge panel: Show Desktop button, Window List applet, and
Workspace
Switcher applet.
Some people have expressed opinions on what the default settings should
be. I think that the best thing to do here is to log a bug or RFE
against the application that specifies the setting.
Eric, these settings should be documented in the GDP Handbook. If you
like, I can create the file then put it back to CVS and you can slot it
into the Handbook. How does that sound?
Eugene
