Hi Mihai.

I also suspect the problems is with UTF-8 and fonts.

The easist way to solve your problems is perhaps upgrading your Red Hat
Linux install to Red Hat Linux 8.0. The 8.0 version doesn't just add the
UTF-8:ified GNOME 2 desktop but also the new gnome-terminal with vte,
with full UTF-8 support. Also, all locales are UTF-8 to begin with in
RHL 8.0. I suspect you will have little or no trouble getting this to
work in 8.0.
