Within reason. If we allow stupid ammounts of minimization as in the
example that Telsa posted, then writing in SGML is little or no
better than writing in plain text because we can't do anything with
it. I'd agree that we shouldn't say "You CAN'T use SGML
minimizations", but rather we should say, if you're going to use
them, these are some guidelines that you really should follow.
