DISCLAIMER: I'm not a developer, just a documentation guy. So my problems are probably the result of my own ignorance, but I have read the documentation.
Do one is producing RPMs from the snapshots by chance? GNOME-DB seems to have made big strides lately (escpecially with the inclusion of a default provider), but I can't seem to get the CVS checkout to compile. According to the readme file I need to change to libgda and do and autogen.sh there first, but it gives me no joy:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
~/work/projects/gnome-db/libgda $ ./autogen.sh
**Warning**: I am going to run `configure' with no arguments.
If you wish to pass any to it, please specify them on the
`./autogen.sh' command line.

You should add the contents of `/usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4' to `aclocal.m4'.

It would appear I'm missing whatever is supposed to create po/Makefile.in.in. The XML packages installed on this system (2xCPU 2.4.3, mostly-RH7.0, Ximian GNOME 1.4) are:
libxml10-1.0.0-2
libxml-1.8.11-ximian.1
xml-i18n-tools-0.8.1-ximian.1
python-xmlrpc-1.4-1
libxml-devel-1.8.11-ximian.1
