more gnome-db configure woes

After acquiring a gnomeConfig.sh file, moving aclocal files around, and
loading orbit-devel to circumvent three previous failures, I am now
confronted with a fourth.  Upon producing the Makefile, the autogen
script spews the following:

sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda/Makefile
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda-manager/Makefile
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda-clnt/Makefile
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda-clnt-ui/Makefile
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda-dev/Makefile
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command
creating gda-dev/gda-buildclient
sed: file conftest.s1 line 48: Unterminated `s' command

etc, etc....

Has anyone confronted this before?
