missing gnomeConf.sh

gnome-db (among other programs) complains that:

Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by gnome-libs
install

And indeed, searching my filesystem for this turns up nothing.  Could
this be because I installed gnome using rpm's?  What is the solution to
this problem, in terms of me getting gnome-db installed?
