This has now changed in the current mockups to the "share" button
at the top right in
https://github.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/raw/master/contacts/png/contacts-1024x768.png

This share button is in the design of all the "new" gnome 3 apps, but
when I asked Allan and the other designers about it it turns out that
they're not yet sure exactly how that would work. I think we'll have to
punt this to the next major release.

Also, there is some technical work needed in folks to be able to
export/import vcards. There is a bug in bugzilla about this somewhere.

Yeah, this would be nice. The problwm with non-western languages is that
they don't follow the normal rules about first/last name, which is the
important one and what orders they show up in. So, if you just have a
simple string then sorting doesn't really work in a useful way.

I think both are important, you might well have a friend near and thus
being able to take a photo of him.

Also, there is a lot of code in the control-center that can be used for
this, as they have similar code to pick the picture for yourself in the
"User account" page. It has both webcam support and cropping support.

I'm right now redoing the avatar picker from using a menu to a dialog
like:
https://github.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/blob/master/contacts/png/picture-selector.png
But this is mostly moving widgets around and should not affect the work
on the above.
