First of all, this is NOT the correct list for this kind of problems.

You seem to have screwed up your libtool installation. Maybe by compiling
it yourself which isn't needed.

At this point you're probably best of reinstalling RH.
RH 9 comes with GNOME 2.2, and you can install XD2 on top of it.
If you don't want to use RH 9, and if you want to build from source, you
should probably be using some buildscript like jhbuild.
