I think it's important for bonobo - it's aim is to be free and open,
isn't it - to be implementable in other widget-set than gtk+. I think
especially the componet system of gnome should be useable for other
desktops, too.
I don't think gtk+ is bad, but I think it's not the only userfriendly
widget-library. And gnome should be as open to other users as possible,
it's okay for all the convience stuff to depend on gtk but i strongly
suggest to keep the bonobo IDLs free of thinks only implementable with
gtk+.
I haven't read IDL in question, but maybe it would be enough just to say
the standard is to do it like gtk, and document every-think necessary to
reimplemnt and keep useing the gtk?
