That's nonsense... There is no global correction yet... (while
theoretically possible). So double correction is impossible at the
moment. At least not with a normal colord/gcm install.
He's probably confusing VideoLUT with the xyz matrix. They are
supposed to be used together and complement each other.
You should have color management enabled in GIMP/Darktable.
The problem with EOG is, that it enables/disables color management
based on the input file, which is really broken behavior. Which
sometimes explains unexpected results.
And you will always have discrepancies with applications that don't
support color management. If you want to work color managed, you
basically have to cut those application from your workflow (or at
least don't use them to judge any results whatsoever).
