Glad to find this Gnome mailing list in China. Not sure if I should use English or Chinese. Please let me know if I should use Chinese here.
I have a configuration question:
I want to find out how to configure multiple Gnome desktops for one user, each with its own independent configuration?
I am using Red Hat Linux 6.5 with GNOME 2.0. I use SSH to connect.
I understand that by default when you run multiple instances of Gnome owned by the same user, it is expected the they share the same desktop settings. For example, the choice user made for the desktop background is applied to all the running instances of Gnome.
I have tried some options, but it seems not working. Here is my configuration:
In the account's home folder, edit .gconf.path to use $ENV_NX_SESSIONDIR. I thought in this way, each session can have its own gconf.xml:
xml:readwrite:$(ENV_NX_SESSIONDIR)/.gconf
And it seems different gconf.xml is generated in different folders:
But it is not working. It seems the second desktop is controlling the first desktop’s gnome session. For example, on the second desktop, run “gconf-editor” and then change its background, both desktops’ background will be changed.
