Hi James,
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't heard of this exact problem being
reported.
- Could you run through an example of the sort of calculation you are
doing? (I would like to build up some examples of common calculations
so we can validate the design meets these requirements).
- Are you using the mouse or keyboard to control gcalctool? (note that
the keyboard shortcuts work in all modes).
The GCalctool interface is currently being redesigned and your feedback
would be very good.
- If you are familiar with git and GNOME please try the latest version.
- I will be providing packages of the latest versions for feedback. You
can find more information by following my blog (syndicated on Planet
Ubuntu and Planet GNOME):

Hi Robert,
I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 through 8.10 to 9.04. I needed
python 2.6 to run the latest pytrainer ;-)
I use the gcalctool a lot at work. I am an engineer. I work mostly on
embedded software for industrial measurement applications. Very often I
am performing calculations from hex to decimal, and then need the
scientific functions for further calculations on the answer. This used
to be quite easy on the older version of gcalctool, but now I have to
continually swap between programming mode and scientific mode. It's a
real pain. I would have preferred the application got a bigger
interface window than have to swap modes all the time. To me this is a
backward step, unfortunately. Has anyone else expressed this view?
Still, it's yards ahead of the windows calculator ;-)
Regards,
James.
