This problem (bug #494037) persists.  There is also bug #419737, which 
looks like a duplicate of that too.  I filed a detailed recipe to 
reproduce the bug, alongside with a pointer to the code that seems to 
cause it, as #453383:

Please add this bug to the showstoppers -- it's highly annoying, easy to 
reproduce [1] but should even be easy to fix.

[1]: Type something in as filename, then navigate to a non-empty leaf 
directory and click just any bookmark in the sidebar.
