Oi todos,

Uma proposta como essa seria totalmente contra o que se pensa em
termos de fortalecimento dos grupos *locais*. Se a GUADEC é um evento
forte/importante é porque existem muitos desenvolvedores europeus
envolvidos no projeto e boa parte comprindo o papel de liderança.

Se queremos um evento legal no Brasil, precisamos trabalhar para
termos bons contribuidores aqui no país. Sinceramente, *hoje* o Brasil
não tem "moral" para trazer os contribuidores do GNOME do mundo
inteiro. :-/

Cheguei até a conversar com o German no II Fórum GNOME sobre a
possibilidade de um evento latino-americano do GNOME (GUADLAC?).
Porém, ele levantou um ponto importante: as distâncias são muito
maiores do que na Europa, o custo seria muito mais alto para trazer
pessoas. Tava olhando o preço de passagens, o custo para ir para Peru
(por exemplo) é praticamente igual a Barcelona!

Os estudunidenses criaram o Bostom Summit que tb é um evento muito
interessante e menor que a GUADEC. Mas porque é interessante? Mais uma
vez, porque tem muita gente boa trabalhando no GNOME por lá.

Por outro lado, seria muito legal ter um evento itinerante global do
GNOME, a exemplo do DebConf no caso do Debian. Uma reunião geral de
todos envolvidos no projeto. Essa pode ser uma sugestão a ser levada
para a Fundação.

Enfim, fui chato. :-) Acho que ainda precisamos fazer muito trabalho
de base para fazer eventos brasileiros realmente interessantes para o
GNOME. Eventos que tenham respaldo e admiração de nosso colegas de
projeto.

Só para deixar claro, não estou dizendo que os eventos brasileiros do
GNOME anteriores não tiveram importância. Muito pelo contrário, esses
eventos foram (e são) uma iniciativa maravilhosa. Podemos melhorar
muito ainda! Por exemplo: trabalhar para que, no ano que vem, o IV
Fórum GNOME seja uma evento independente de outros eventos maiores
para termos mais liberdade para definição do programa.
