Re: Archiving the Boxes mailing list in favor of Discourse

Hi everyone!

Its been a week since my email, and I take the lack of responses as an
endorsement for the migration to happen. :)

I am going to file the migration request today and this list will be
archived as soon as the Infrastructure team has time to process the
request.

Since this might be the very last message this list sees, I would like
to thank everybody who has engaged in conversations here throughout
the years. GNOME Boxes is now one of the most downloaded apps in
Flathub and we have had great reviews and press coverage in various
relevant FOSS news websites. All of this and more wouldn't be possible
without you all. Thank you!

This is not a goodbye. We can all still stay in touch on Discourse.
Our Boxes tag is at
https://discourse.gnome.org/tags/c/applications/7/boxes
Discourse is free and open source software, hosted in the GNOME infrastructure.
You can login in Discourse with your GNOME LDAP account or create a
brand new account. By clicking on the bell at the top-right corner of
the boxes tag page in Discourse, you can subscribe to be notified
about new messages (email notifications). Alternatively, you can visit
the page often and check out for new content on demand.

We hope that this migration will facilitate future conversations and
bring new people into our discussions.

Cheers,
Felipe Borges

Hi everybody,

GNOME has set up https://discourse.gnome.org a year and a half ago, as
part of an attempt at making the GTK mailing list more friendly to
newcomers. This experiment seems to have proven itself well enough,
and has since expanded to other territories as well. As such, we
believe it is time to make the same switch for most of our mailing
lists too.

Mailing lists are now starting to be archived, on-demand, based on
requests from maintainers. Since our list hasn't seen much activity in
the past couple of years, I find it natural that we archive it and
continue discussions in Discourse.

Before making this decision final, I would like to give a week for
people that oppose this change to manifest their reasons, so we can
discuss them.

Happy hacking,
Felipe Borges.
