Hi folks, Today I released OCRFeeder version 0.7.1a. What is OCRFeeder ================== OCRFeeder is a document layout analysis and optical character recognition system. Given the images it will automatically outline its contents, distinguish between what's graphics and text and perform OCR over the latter. It generates multiple formats being its main one ODT. It features a complete GTK+ GUI that allows users to correct any unrecognized characters, define or correct bounding boxes, set paragraph styles, clean the input images, import PDFs, save and load the project, export everything to multiple formats, etc. Homepage: http://live.gnome.org/OCRFeeder Main changes in this version ============================= Improvements ------------- * Add importation of images from a scanner device * Add the spellchecker functionality * Add the copy text to clipboard functionality * Improve the a11y of the "import page from scanner" menu * Add the Cuneiform OCR engine automatic detection * Replace the current freeware OpenOffice.org icon with a GPLed one (thanks to Alberto Garcia) * Move the OCRFeeder modules to its own folder * Change configuration default values for actions done after adding images * Improve code * Rewrite ocrfeeder-cli Bug Fixes ---------- * Add the help option to ocrfeeder-cli (gb#630829) * Fix selecting all areas * Fix ellipsis and title in the queued events dialog * Prevent "invisible" boxes creation * Remove temporary images for the Tesseract OCR engine New and Updated Translations ----------------------------- * Marek Cernocky, Petr Kovar [cs] * Mario Blättermann [de] * Joe Hansen, Kenneth Nielsen [da] * Jorge González [es_ES] * Bruno Brouard [fr] * Kjartan Maraas [nb] * Matej Urbančič [sl] Where to find OCRFeeder ==================== Git: http://git.gnome.org/browse/ocrfeeder/ Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=runnamed&namedcmd=OCRFeeder Tarball: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ocrfeeder/0.7/ocrfeeder-0.7.1a.tar.bz2 First announcement: http://www.joaquimrocha.com/?p=642 Enjoy OCR on your GNOME Desktop. -- Joaquim Rocha http://www.igalia.com
