Re: Getting Tech info out to people

There's actually three documents:

1) For users: http://snoringbeagle.net/gag.html
2) For developers: http://snoringbeagle.net/gadg.html
3) For OS distributions: http://snoringbeagle.net/dtg.html

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I hadn't realized that the document focused on the technical
aspects. From what I had read before, I had the impression it was more
of a "how to use a11y functions" for users. Perhaps I was wrong and
I'll have to re-review the document.

Hi Bryen:

There is a GOPA task underway that Vincent Alexander is working on:

http://www.gnome.org/projects/outreach/a11y/tasks/documentation/

The current drafts are here:

http://snoringbeagle.net/

And we have a bug open to set up something to automatically push the docs:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552532

When all this is in place, I want to update http://live.gnome.org/Accessibility to make sure it and its subpages point to the right spot.

In fact, I plan on dedicating my entire Monday this coming Monday to revisit live.gnome.org/Accessibility and live.gnome.org/GAP to see what can be done about reconciling everything under live.gnome.org/Accessibility and getting things in place. If you'd like to help, we could attempt to do it via IRC.

Thanks!

We are seeing increased interest by developers to ensure their software
is a11y-compliant. The problem is oftentimes, they come into our IRC
channel with the question "HI, I'd like to do this with my app, how do I
get started?" But, understandably, the channel isn't highly active
during non-meeting times.

I do my best to try to ping people on the nicklist and link them up to
this wonderfully ambitious folks, but it is always a hit-and-miss.

As an example, Jason Smith of GNOME-DO fame came in about 1/2 hour after
last night's meeting ready to jump in with his efforts to a11y-itize
GNOME-DO. He was planning to spend the night working on it, but sadly
we couldn't connect the right people to him.

I'd like to see if maybe one of you could write a good documentation to
put on the wiki, so I can at least point them to relevant information.
(We should put this in the /topic of the channel as well.)

We need to get information to them quickly while the fire is still hot
in their hearts.
