The need to delete those files surprised me too.  That wasn't necessary 
last year but things seemed to have changed enough this year where that's 
become necessary.  Advice is to check that out and find out what happens 
this year.  I could try running orca --setup after dexconf gets run while 
in console mode, the display should be able to work after that.
