Re: Gaim and orca

Hi Chris.

Yes the chat history is above the box in which you type your message. You can use Orca's flat review commands to review that window. The Orca script for Gaim also includes some history keystrokes. If you press the Orca modifier key (Insert or CapsLock) plus a number you'll hear that message without leaving the text box you are in. The most recent message is 1, the one before that 2, and so on.

It doesn't seem that you can use Tab or F6 to get to that history. Tab/Shift Tab doesn't move focus there. F6 moves you there, but focus is immediately returned to the text box in which you type your message -- whether you are using Orca or not. However, I just discovered something interesting: If you press F6 and keep it held down, focus will stay in the history until you release F6. So you can use F6 plus the arrow keys as well. Personally, I'd go with the Orca history commands or flat review, but having options is good. <smile>

I hope this helps! By the way, are you also on the Orca list? If not, info can be found here: http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/orca-list

Take care.
Joanie

Hi all,
I ma new on this list, and have a quick question. I want to use Gaim
with Orca, I can log in, and use the contacts list and stuff, but I can
only read the last message that a contact wrote, and that is dificult,
does the chat history come up in a text box like in windows?

Cheers,
