Hi Carlos:

The most significant enhancements to gnome-mag in the past year took 
place _this year_, mostly in January.  Unless your version of GNOME 2.8 
is very new indeed, it won't have these changes.

I believe that the changes are compatible with GNOME 2.8 'stability' 
rules, and so it should be possible for distributors to include the very 
latest gnome-mag version with any new GNOME-2.8-based releases they make.
