problems with gnopernicus

I recently built garnome 2.8.1 on a fedora core 2 system.
I have my .xinitrc file setup to point to the garnome build as my installation of gnome.
I created a new user on my system, and ran a command-line script to enable the accessibility features.

When I ran startx, gnopernicus did not start speaking.
