Thanks for your help. The symlink idea didn't work. I grabbed the
automake-1.4.p6 package and installing it. Too bad the gnopernicus
configure.in script couldn't be updated to run with automake-1.7, but
there's probably a subtle reason. Anyway, I should be compiled and ready
to go shortly.
