Hi Rich,

In order to logout from Gnome 2.4 properly you can 

1. press alt+f1 to access the start menu
2. press the right arrow key one time to go to the "actions" item 
3. Press the up arrow key one time to go to the "close session" (sorry I
don't know how this item is exactly writen in english) item
4. Press "enter" to select this item and then press "tab" until you hear
"OK" or something like this and to fiinish press "enter"
