This is, IMHO, even more broken.  It causes new windows to be posted,
etc.

If the default theme SELECTED color were not so unsuitable then
SELECTED would be fine.  

We don't have a FOCUSED style/state, so we have to overload one 
we have.  But this is very important for accessibility, and it
also needs to be consistent, i.e. not something that gets
turned off.
