Hi George,
You must also apply this patch:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348203
It's add the checks for xcomposite and xrender, since
the code is pre-processed, removing the composite and
render part, if these libraries aren't finded by the
configure script.
