I'm getting confused about the Loquendo support and who's doing it.  Are
you working with Juan Ramon Jimenez:

For the particular problem you are seeing, there might be any number of
things going on.  :-(  One might be that the bonobo activation stuff
hasn't been set up properly or that the gnome-speech service isn't
exposing itself properly.  

I'm not sure how to go about debugging this without poring through the
code.  Are you using the code from the patch in the above URL?
