atk-1.4.0 doesn't require >= 2.0.0 I believe; what I means was that
other parts of gnome-2.4.0 probably do (for instance gtk-2.2.4 requires
glib-2.1.4).
So, Mathias, are you trying to build _only_ atk, and not the rest of
GNOME?
