This is a bug in gcc 2.96 shipped with Mdk 8.0.

There is an gcc 2.96 for Mdk 8.0 in the unsupported directory on our
mirror which fix this problem.. (ie
ftp.free.fr:/pub/Distributions_Linux/Mandrake-devel/unsupported/8.0/i586
)
