There should be an 'Apply' button on the preferences page with the
camera settings (I assume they're all together) and it should be
positioned such that the user can tell it will apply the above settings.
I'm sure other people on the usability list will be able to explain it
better.

Again, I think an 'Apply' button is appropriate here, too.
Note that I believe even if the user does not click 'Apply' when they
click 'OK' the settings should be set then (usability people please
correct me if I'm wrong)
