Some ideas,:
1) In the future, make tarballs *after* committing the changes to cvs and
making a tag. That is how I always do it.
2) Make a gnome-vfs 1.1.1 release that does have a corresponding tag.
3) Make a branch for gnome-vfs 1.1 (don't forget to do both an anchor and
a branch tag) and check in just your changes to that branch. Tag those
sources and use diff to confirm that the branch exactly matches what's in
your tarball.
