Because some « same-utility / duplicated » softwares was already in the
gnome-1.4 package, all the duplicated apps should be added, if they're used
by some people ?

In gnome 1.4, should be all the GNOME apps not so buggy ? If the answer is
yes, so you should add (maybe - I dont know if its unbuggy or not) gpaint
and... And a list a hundred other gnome apps, panel applets, etc ...

Do you really want to make a package with millions of softwares, just
because they exists, they're for GNOME, and they're stable ?

Maybe I was mistaking, but I always was thinking that only the better apps
(really usefull - maybe just because there's not any other soft of the
kind...) should be in the official GNOME. The others have freshmeat, and
everyone who likes theses apps can easily find them. (And if theses
softwares becames usefull to a large part, so, they'll naturally come to
the GNOME release.)

I find more interresting adding vectorial drawing softwares like
sodipodi...

And I repeat my view, I REALLY dont like the idea of a « software for the
newbies », a less-capable tool...

Working on a simple mode for the gimp is probably a more constructive idea
that working on a simple software for the image. (but everybody do what he
want to do...)
