the extra apps, gpaint, etc

Just a quick note to quiet some of the controversy...

Jamin and I are still in the middle of defining the "extra apps"
criteria and targets.  As such, the list that Jamin has been posting
is nothing more than an initial target list of apps that we will begin
from.

We do plan on having a formalized feedback mechanism for users and
developers to make a case for an application.  This will help Jamin
and I with our job, and get us started on working with the
documentation and translation teams to polish up the apps that will be
part of the release.

So, if you guys could hold off on the arguments (for just a little
while!) while Jamin and I get all of the details together, we'll be
able to present a better-defined procedure.  Keep suggesting apps
here, and we'll add them to our search list.  Once the selection
process begins, the two of us will be better equipped to make
decisions and explain why.
