In general, can any/all gtk+ widgets be redirected to be written into a buffer?
How would one do that, or is this more of a gtk-list question?

Also, I figured out how to do a gtk drawing area and draw opengl into
it and how to do it with glade making the UI. So that is pretty cool.

It seems what I want to do really is smack in the middle of
cairo/gtk/pango with glade providing the interface design. I've started
writing prototying codes already and it looks nice.

I decided not to use clutter because after careful looking they made
design decisions that are not in the direction I need.

Also Glade really is a _sweet_ tool. Thank you for writing it!
