[Gimp-user] Change colour of liquid in GIMP

Just wondering if it is possible to change the colour of a liquid in GIMP?

I have followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn7rrMZ6TCA

While it teaches us how to set a transparent layer, when I add a colour over the
liquid, the colour doesn't change exactly to the one I want (since it is layered
over the original colour of the liquid and shows the blended of the two).
