Re: [Gimp-user] Answer to Asking about comparison to Photoshop (AW: gimp-user-list Digest, Vol 111, Issue 24)

Hello!

For me it is quite easy to use Krita for CMYK conversion, while doing the
real work in GIMP. So even now it is possible to do a print job all with
open-source-software. My question to the developers: GIMP is an open-source
image manipulation program, Krita is. Could the developers of Krita help the
developers of GIMP to get CMYK into GIMP and running? Is there a chance to
use their code?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to find the colour palette. i.e. plain coloursf
or example to use with bucket fill.

One way is to click on the two overlapping rectangles (one black and one
white, by default) under the toolbox, that show the current paint colours
(foreground and background respectively).

Another is to click on the colour swatch in tool options for the bucket
fill.

To choose from groups of similar colours, go to the Window menu and choose
Dockable Dialogues->Palettes. You can right-click on one that sounds
interesting and choose Edit, and now clicking on a colour in it will choose
that colour for the foreground, including bucket fill.

Yes, that is a major and important difference.

Yes, that is a major and important difference.

Note that there are plugins such as separate+ that go some of the way.

Print and pre-press is for sure an area where we could for sure do wih
more volunteer programmers, although it's not easy.

However, for most users, sending an RGB file to a print shop (or to a
printer) is fine.
