Other programs use "Export " or "Export As" to convert to another format.
The free Nikon programs for NEF files uses "Convert file". It makes little
difference, the concept is still the same: there is a native format and then
there are other formats. It's a good concept to learn. And this friendly
list is always available. This list, btw, is one of the most fantastic
features of GIMP.
One way to learn all the bells and whistles in GIMP is to open a new image
(of something you don't mind being destroyed) and test all the menu options
by actually clicking on them.
