[Gimp-user] Color change not effective

I'm trying to change the color of a coffee bag in a picture. I've tried several
different methods with an extra layer set to "hue" mode. Here are the youtube
channels where I saw the videos.

these are great methods, however when I try them on my pic the colors are very 
transparent. Whereas in the videos they seem allot more opaque. Attached you
will find the picture that I'm trying to change.
