[Gimp-user] Cylindrical to cubic projection??

Hi all, I'm new here.

I've been having a major headache finding a simple way to convert a cylindrical
equal-area projection:

If that is not possible, would it be possible to convert an azimuthal
equidistant projection to cubic?

Even some rough way to somehow cut out 6 cubic images would be nice.

(if this is not possible in GIMP, which I'm going for, I'd really appreciate
someone showing me some alternative to do this method somehow. Also, I am
reluctant to download Pano2VR just to do this one thing.)
