[Gimp-user] Pasting an image results in outline only moving

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's a floating section; I looked under
"layers" and this wasn't listed. I just noticed that when I go to the
picture I want to use as background and press Contol V to paste the first
image into it, the "Colour picker" icon appears along with a "No" symbol.
(Circle with a line through it.) Does this shed any more light on what's
going on? Thanks!
