Subject: [Gimp-user] Save v Export behaviour
The Save menu item you want back didn't ask for confirmation after the
first time either.
You are missing my point. The problem is that the "save" option is now next to
the [export] option - when it has been my intention to "export" to a new file I
have on several occassions clicked [overwrite] by mistake, causing swearing and
the throwing of things.
That can vary depending on what your source file format is. A freshly opened JPEG file, for example, will
not silently overwrite the original unless you've previously exported it within the same session, since
format settings like compression level aren't detectable at file load time.
Unfortunately it is still true that an accidental overwrite is not as harmless as an accidental save (a
particular risk for those who often perform resized exports).
