[Gimp-user] Text Problem

so when i go and try to add text to my pictures it will not stay within the area. what i mean it when i hit a 
certain font size it will make a new row, even it is is only taking up not even half of the box i made for 
it. 
exsample:
 the box and text
 -----------------------------------
|   hello my                            |
|   Gimp                                 |
|                                              |

i hope that makes sense on what is going on.
