Anyways, I understand your frustration.

At the bottom of every email for this mailing list is the following:

gimp-user-list mailing list
gimp-user-list gnome org
http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

The second link will take you to a webpage that will allow you to remove 
yourself from the list.

I understand that some people have been having difficulty with that. 
(For whatever reason it won't work for them).

So as an alternative, if you go to 
http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=6579#0 (for 
gmail), it will tell you how to set up a gmail filter. Filter out the 
term "gimp-user-list gnome org", and you should never see one of us 
again. ;)
