[Gimp-user] install

I downloaded Gimp to my Macbook Pro.  I have Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  When I tried to install it, a message 
came up asking me to install XQuartz.  I did this and was then able to install Gimp.  However, when I tried 
to open Gimp, it does not open.  Any thoughts?
