[Gimp-developer] GIMP-2.99 "No rule to make target 'gimpoperationmaskcomponents.c'"

When compiling GIMP-2.99 updated this morning, I got this error:

make[4]: *** No rule to make target 'gimpoperationmaskcomponents.c', 
needed by 'gimpoperationmaskcomponents.o'.  Stop.
make[4]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make[3]: *** [Makefile:984: all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: *** [Makefile:1266: all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: *** [Makefile:854: all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [Makefile:755: all] Error 2

In fact there doesn't seem to be "gimpoperationmaskcomponents.c", though 
there is "gimpoperationmaskcomponents.cc".

Renaming the file and typing "make" to continue compiling results in a 
bunch of other errors, and "make" doesn't finish.
