And it is a good idea to ask a member of the core development team to
verify or falsify the information found there (or anywhere else). A good
way to do this are the gimp-developer mailing list and the #gimp irc
channel on irc.gimp.org.

In the current case, a simple question like "Is this a decided feature,
or a suggestion?" (NB: the latter) would have prevented the (alleged)
misunderstanding from happening.
